We visited the Freedom Park!

Friendly security guards outside the Park showed us where to park and where to enter. This display was at the entrance to the museum:

This friendly guard Rose Shiburi walked with us. The gardens are beautiful, the buildings high and the whole park cover a vast area.

A tour guide, Lekgau Nkogatse, told us everything about the park and showed us how to get the best out of our experience. He showed us the lobby, the restaurant area and how the display shows work.

The “tour” includes 7 Epoch areas. The displays are huge and everywhere are screens giving information about each era.

Behind the museum is the Garden of Remembrance and it’s laid out on a 2.5 Ha area, overlooking the city.  It includes:  The Wall of Names, a 2000 seat amphitheater, the Eternal Flame and the Reed sculpture which is 200m metal reeds, some of which are visible across the city.

Everybody is very friendly and helpful.  If you’re in Pretoria, DON’T MISS THE FREEDOM PARK. We have learned a lot. Totally worth it!

We don’t want to spoil it for you, but here’s a few of the photos we took.  Click to enlarge:
